Eagles aim to fly high

Somerset Eagles will look to continue their high-flying act in the FA Cup tomorrow at Police Field, where the First Division promotion hopefuls square off against Premier Division champions North Village, writes Colin Thompson.

After last weekend's humbling 4-3 loss to Boulevard in which their own league title hopes were dashed, Eagles will be looking to get back to winning ways in the semi-final.

Albert Dowling's men have already disposed of Somerset Trojans and Wolves in previous rounds but the five time Cup champions may prove a tougher proposition.

"Now that we are in a good position to reach the finals of the FA Cup, our focus has intensified, " said Dowling. "It's going to be another challenge for us, but we will be prepared for it."

After recording a dramatic 4-3 second round come from behind win over the Trojans back on December 2, Eagles then duplicated the feat against Wolves.

"Knowing Eagles, they always have a surprise for someone and you never no when it is going to come," Dowling added. "I wish Village the best, but for my team, I wish them even greater success."

Meanwhile, Village coach Scott Morton said his team would approach the match as if it were any other by refusing to take the opposition lightly.

"I am pretty sure their (Eagles) confidence will be high after defeating two Premier sides," he said. "Overall, I think that it is going to be a good, entertaining match. I don't see either team winning by a landslide, which will make it more interesting."

The appetiser tomorrow will feature Rude Girls against Dandy Stars in the Womens FA Cup semi-final at 12.30 p.m.
