Eatherley's reign ends
Saturday's cross country race at Spittal Pond provided a shock, with Lynn Patchett ending Anna Eatherley's lengthy period of dominance among local distance running.
Patchett defeated her longtime nemesis by 46 seconds over the 4.8 mile course, breaking the tape in 31 minutes, 10 seconds, compared to 31:56 for Eatherley, the undisputed queen of local distance running.
A distant third was Dawn Simons in 37:06.
Among the men, the absence of Kavin Smith allowed Tracey Wright to grab a rare win, as he clocked 34:51 over six miles, easily beating Tristan Francis (36:49) and Jamal hart (38:27).
Other categories saw Trey Simons (16:39) take the Boys Under 10, Deymeon Todd (17:35) the Boys Under 12, Trey Huston (25:07) Boys Under 14, Henry Talbot (31:04) Boys Under 17, and Mark Morrison (30:04) Boys Under 20. Among the Girls winners were Shellicia McKenzie (29:32) in the Girls Under 14, Jenny Palmer (48:54) Girls Under 17, and Shardae Whitter (39:00) Girls Under 20.
