Falcons swoop to take the title
Dockyard Falcons defeated Goodwill tournament hosts Somerset Extros 4-2 at Somerset Cricket Club on Saturday night to take the inaugural title.
Tournament MVP Junior DeSilva, struck a double for Falcons while Lee Correia and Mike Williams assisted with a goal apiece. Everette Wellman and Michael Corday replied for the hosts.
In the opening match, a resurgent Prison Officers beat Valley FC 7-4 to secure third place overall. Millet Rawlins and Dwight Richards each registered hat-tricks for the men in blue, while Conrad Lister traded in his bowling gear for the night to also get in on the scoring act with a strike of his own.
Valley's goals came from Roger Hall, McDonald Simmons and the tournament's top marksman, Kevin Isaac, who scored twice.
"Overall, it was a good tournament that was played in great spirit," said tournament director, Michael Corday. "The competition lived up to our expectations and we now look forward to having the tournament becoming an annual event."
