Final round woe for Dillas at Worlds

Jarryd Dillas

Jarryd Dillas' Junior World Golf Championship title hopes were dashed yesterday when he turned in his worst score of the week.

After rounds of 73, 70 and 77 had kept him on the coat tails of the leaders in the 15-17 division at the Torrey Pines course in San Diego, California, the young Bermudian finished with an 80 yesterday.

Dillas, whose total for the week was a round 300, slipped from sixth in the standings to 17th - though his finish should not be allowed to detract from what has been an excellent week of golf for arguably Bermuda's brightest talent.

Japan's Yuta Ikeda stood on top of the leaderboard after his final round of 74 for a 289 total left him one shot ahead of Seann Hartlingten of California.

Dillas' fellow Bermudian Tyler Marshall missed the cut for the final round.

Ebonie Burgess, competing in the girls 15-17 division, also missed the cut and sat out yesterday's play.
