First Division Round-up
Wolves maintained their challenge for the second promotion spot with a goal from Shannon Lee just five minutes from time in this First Division clash at Wellington Oval.
Lee came up with the goal that clinched all three points when he stroked home a rebound from close range after St. George?s goalkeeper Troy Hall had dived full length to palm away a shot.
Earlier St. George?s had held the initiative, taking a 1-0 lead through Jade Foggo after 11 minutes only to see Tori Davis snatch an equaliser three minutes later.
However, the home team re-established their one-goal lead a minute before the break when Jahron Dickinson scored their second.
Wolves equalised again after 73 minutes through Nairobi Smith.
YMSC 1 Southampton Rangers 5
Southampton Rangers comfortably beat nine-man Young Men?s Social Club at Bernard Park but could have scored three times as many as they did had they better timed their forward runs.
In a one-sided game, Rangers attackers were offside on no fewer than 25 occasions on a truly awful afternoon of football in the howling wind and torrential rain.
Eugene Pitt opened the visitors? account against the short-handed home team and Shaun Williams soon doubled it.
Many more goals should have been scored but the Rangers players kept needlessly wandering into offside positions despite the vast tracts of space left open for them by the numerically challenged home side.
Haile Matthews actually pulled one back for YMSC but they never looked like muscling back into the game and Asir Lowe, Donnie Charles and a neat lob from former national team striker Travis Wilkinson secured the win for the visitors.
St. David?s 6 Prospect United 1
The East Enders did their promotion prospects no harm with a comfortable victory over Prospect.
St. David?s went ahead in the 20th minute when Angelo Cannonier outpaced the defence and beat Kuhn Evans in the Propect goal.
An own goal from Stewart Gale doubled the scoreline before Otis Minors made it three.
After the break, Dejaun Paynter made it four and sub Landro Minors bagged a couple to seal the win. Prospect stalwart Clifford Roberts grabbed a last-minute consolation strike.
Paget Lions 2 X-Roads 1
Already promoted Paget took another giant step towards the Division One championship with this 2-1 victory.
The visitors took the lead through Khomeini Talbot but the indomitable Lions got two goals back from Nathan Simmons to increase their lead at the top of the table.
At White Hill Field the match-up featuring the two bottom clubs never got underway when Hamilton Parish, going into the day just one point ahead of last-placed Somerset Eagles, refused to play with the seven players that showed up for them.
