First Division round-up
X Roads Warriors 4
Hamilton Parish 0
Khomeini Talbot made a dream debut to the new season when he scored a hat-trick to lead X Roads to this comfortable four-goal First Division triumph at Garrison field yesterday.
The forward struck first after 20 minutes, got his second after 75 minutes and the third five minutes later. The third was smartly headed home from a cross by hard-working Dennis Musson who provided him with many other defence-splitting passes.
Muhammad Bouokhloufi was the other goalscorer, netting the team's second goal after 25 minutes.
Parish were unable to come back from a a two-goal deficit and got punished for seemingly being unfit for the opener.
Further frustration set in for Parish when they had Burton Outerbridge was sent off by referee Anthony Francis late in the game.
Parish's day of misery was evident when a player urged to be substituted, asking the bench to “bring me off, I've done my part. I'm tired now”.
One person who wasn't tired thanks to the Parish attack was X Roads goalkeeper Clyde Darrell who didn't have much work to do while his counterpart in the Parish goal Ronald Darrell was kept busy the entire match.
Paget 1 St.George's Colts 2
Goals either side of the half from Kuma Smith and Philip Anderson saw St.George's Colts grab maximum points off Paget at White Hill Field.
Smith took only 15 minutes to open his team's scoring account for the season and send the East Enders into the dressing room with a one-goal advantage at the half.
Anderson then put St.George's firmly in command shortly after the restart when he converted to send his team two goals clear.
But Paget threatened to string together a late revival, Kyhon Smith pulling one back 15 minutes from full time.
The home team's hopes, however, suffered another setback when Aaron Anderson was sent off after exchanging blows with St.George's' David Signor.
But St.George's held on to their slim lead to the very end.
Somerset Eagles 3
Prospect 2
Somerset Eagles came from behind twice to edge Prospect in a five-goal thriller at White Hill Field.
Prospect jumped to an early lead when Antoine Daniels' long range free-kick found the back of the net.
But Eagles hit back early in the second-half when Darren Dowling scored the first of two goals.
The visiting team retook the lead through Jerry Laws, however, Eagles netted twice inside of two -minutes to pick up the all-important first win of the season.
Jermaine (Beefie) Salaam began the home team's late dramatics by equalising before Dowling settled the issue once and for all minutes from the final whistle.
Southampton Rangers 1 St. David's 1
Rangers had a terrible start to life in the lower division, going down after just eight minutes to a Kameron Fox goal. They then had a goal disallowed goal just a few minutes later before one-time national team player Travis Wilkinson slotted home calmly from the penalty spot after a shove in the box midway through the first half.
Rangers had plenty of opportunities to win the game in the second half as they dominated the match but couldn't find a way through and they did get lucky at the other end as the East Enders came close on counter attacks.
A match which was low on quality and energy - as many players wilted in the summer heat - petered out to a 1-1 draw.
Meanwhile, Social Club and Wolves played to a scoreless draw at Bernard Park.
