First Division Round-up

St. George?s Cup Match batsman Troy Hall continued his prolific season with the bat at Wellington Oval yesterday.

Hall hammered an unbeaten 52 to help guide the East Enders to a hard-fought three-wicket win over PHC ? the only team to have defeated them in limited overs cricket this season.

PHC batted first after winning the toss but failed to cash in after being poised comfortably at 100 for two.

Gerald Simons led the PHC batting with an aggressive 53 at the top of the order, but none of his team-mates managed to contribute significantly to the total.

Off spinner Upal Dhammika was the pick of the St.George?s bowling with three wickets for 13 runs off only 3.2 overs.

Hall then helped himself to another well-played half century as St.George?s achieved their winning objective with three wickets in hand.

Cleveland kept their league title hopes alive at Sea Breeze Oval where they handed Leg Trappers a 56-run loss.

Cleveland skipper Jason Simons led from the front, belting 57 runs.

Graham Strange claimed five wickets for six runs off only six overs to top the Trappers bowling.

However, all the home team?s hard work in the field came undone as they failed in their reply, Terrance Corday the only batsman offering any real resistance with 33 runs.

Somerset Cup Match hopeful Dennis Musson jr led the Cleveland bowling with three for 16.

Devonshire romped to an emphatic ten-wicket victory over Somerset Bridge at White Hill Field.

Devonshire dismissed their opponents in only 21.1 overs, and then surpassed Bridge?s meagre total in seven overs with ten wickets in hand and 258 balls to spare.

Jermaine Salaam led the Bridge batting with 22 while Devonshire skipper and former Bridge cricketer Dean Stephens claimed four wickets for 29 runs off ten overs, including two maidens.

In reply, St.George?s Cup Match hopeful Ricky Brangman Jr smashed an unbeaten 45 while fellow opener Wendell Swan remained undefeated on 15.
