Frustration for golfer Sims

Michael Sims (above) endured another frustrating day on the greens, missing the cut in the Encinos Open by a shot on Thursday.

Competing at Los Encinos Golf Club in Toluca, Mexico, the Bermudian carded a second-round 74 to be one-over 145 and tied for 54th place at the half-way stage.

Unfortunately for him, the cut was made at even par which - not for the first time in his fledgling pro career - left Sims agonisingly short of the mark. The 24-year-old would have been disappointed following Wednesday's promising when he shot one-under 71 in the opening round of his third South American Tour event.

Meanwhile, Argentina's Mauricio Molina led the tournament, heading into yesterday's third round. He was on eight-under 136 with his compatriot Miguel Fernandez and Paraguay's Pedro Martinez a shot back.
