Goater fit for season kick-off
Shaun Goater has recovered from a calf injury and should be fit to start the season for English club side Reading.
The Bermudian striker picked up the knock while training for the first leg World Cup qualifying tie against El Salvador and played only a limited role in that game, a 2-1 defeat.
He missed out on the second leg completely and went back to Reading for pre-season training still in doubt for the season opener.
But club physio Jon Fearn has confirmed Goater will now be okay for the start of Division One action in early August.
?The calf injury has healed and we?re working on his fitness,? said Fearn.
?I think the injury was fatigue-induced because he had a hard summer and I want to make sure he?s fit before he joins in with the rest of the players.
?There?s no reason why he won?t be ready for the start of the season.?
Goater will be desperate to recover in time for the August 2 friendly against his former club Manchester City, a match arranged as part of the transfer deal that took him away from Maine Road where he had achieved hero status.
