Goater gets a roasting
He may be leading the goalscoring charts but Shaun Goater was not spared a tongue-lashing from Manchester City boss Kevin Keegan on Saturday.
Keegan was furious at the way his side crashed to a 4-0 defeat at West Bromwich Albion, a loss that saw them lose ground on the teams at the top.
The manager attacked every one of his players after the abysmal performance at the Hawthorns and declared that they would not be able to fire the club back to the Premiership via automatic promotion.
"I am confident we will be around the top six but I don't think that the players we have got at the moment are good enough to get out of this division automatically," Keegan fumed.
Meanwhile, Kyle Lightbourne spurned a golden opportunity to open his goal account for Macclesfield Town as they drew 0-0 with Halifax.
The striker found himself with a scoring chance after just 35 seconds but his shot was turned around the post by `keeper Lee Butler.
