Great day for Bay

A formidable batting display combined with decent bowling saw home side Bailey?s Bay score a comfortable 139-run victory at Sea Breeze Oval.

The match-up of Eastern Counties rivals saw Bay?s batsmen tear the heart out of the St. David?s bowlers with Glenn Blakeney top scoring on 67, putting on 86 with opener Jermaine Warner during a second-wicket partnership. Warner hit 55.

Others among the runs were Rodney Trott on 56, skipper Jermaine Outerbridge 33, Cal Dill Jr. 31 and Dennis Pilgrim 15 not out.

On a day when St. David?s bowling was wayward, only Mackie Crane and Sammy Robinson had respectable figures. Crane taking three wickets for 69 runs off ten overs and Robinson two for 28 off four overs.

St. David?s, aware that victory was going to be an uphill battle, were rocked from the very start when they lost their first four batsmen for a mere 29 runs, Jim West and Burton Outerbridge doing the damage with the new ball.

But stability was to come in the form of Arthur Pitcher Jr. and Loren Marshall, the pair adding 97 for the fifth wicket with Pitcher scoring 58 and Marshall 23.

However once Pitcher became the fifth wicket to fall after being caught behind by off spinner Rodney Trott at 126 the St. David?s innings didn?t last too much longer, George O?Brien being the only other batsmen to reach double figures with 22.

Burton Outerbridge was Bay?s best bowler with three wickets for 23 runs off eight overs with two maidens while Rodney Trott claimed three for 41 off eight overs. West finished with two for 44 off six overs and Pilgrim two for 54 off 9.4 overs with two maidens.
