Haiti win Digicel Cup
Bermuda's Digicel Cup vanquishers Haiti turned in a remarkable performance this week to win the prestigious regional competition by defeating hosts Trinidad and Tobago 2-1 in Tuesday's finalFirst-time winner Haiti, contesting only their second final in the Cup's 18-year history, emerged triumphant after a competition lasting 73 matches and involving 25 teams.
Eight-time winner Trinidad were fielding a fledgling side because of club commitments for many star players.
Haiti and Bermuda both finished third in their second-phase groups and were subsequently forced into a playoff for the one remaining spot in the eight-team finals.
John Barry Nusum's men lost the two-leg tie 5-0 on aggregate.
The top four teams in the Digicel Cup all qualify for the Concacaf Gold Cup in the US in June.
Cuba finished third overall ahead of fourth-placed Guadeloupe who they beat 2-1 in the play-off.
