Hedges 18th in time trials

Lost to World Number one Peter Nicol

Kris Hedges came 18th out of 42 cyclists in the Commonwealth Games time trials yesterday, rounding out a mixed day for Bermuda athletes on the second full day of the Games.

Hedges came 18th out of 44 competitors, finishing the three-lap time trial in 1:08:11.10, 7:17 behind winner Cadek Evans of Australia.

Bermuda's women cyclists came 14th and 15th in the time trials ealier on Saturday.

Melanie Claude came 14th in a time of 38:37.79, 3:46 minutes behind winner Clara Hughes of Canada.

Julia Hawley was 15th in a time of 38:50.98, 3:59 minutes behind Hughes.

In squash, Nick Kyme came up against world number one Peter Nicol and lost 9-1, 9-0, 9-0 in the second round.
