Dev. Cougars 1 Dandy Town 3

Two goals from big striker Kevin Hurdle and another from substitute Devarr Boyles at Devonshire Rec. last night saw defending league champions Dandy Town temporarily lift themselves from the Premier Division relegation zone.

Going into the match Town were hovering second from bottom of the table and well aware that another loss would put them in an even more embarrassing position.

They are not out of the mire yet, but at least three more points earned them breathing space.

Cougars struck early, putting Town behind 1-0 after just six minutes when Heys Wolfe slammed a shot home from eight yards when he caught the defence in a daze.

It was just last week that Cougars blasted Devonshire Colts 6-0 under lights at the same venue and Town had to be wondering whether they might suffer a similar fate

But thanks to Hurdle, the Hornets rebounded and drew level after 38 minutes when the lanky striker combined with Reggie Tucker to score the equaliser from close range.

However, between the two goals Cougars held a slight edge with Wolfe blowing a chance while Town remained competitive with Hurdle and Darron Simons coming close from inside the box.

After the interval, Cougars forward Raymond Beach fired inches wide from 15 yards but Town responded with Hurdle slamming home the go-ahead goal from eight yards after taking a cross from the right.

Town slowly took a decisive edge and fought relentlessly to control the game, finally taking a decisive two-goal lead after 70 minutes when Boyles scored from inside the penalty box.

By then Cougars had faded up front and offered few threats until the end when a Shawn Smith shot was cleared off the goal line by Kingsley Mundy.
