Big-hitting Freston Hurdle blasted Somerset's bowling on Sunday, finishing with a whirlwind 71 to lead Police to a 19-run victory at Police Field.
Hurdle came to bat with his team struggling at 101 for six and later, with the anchor support of J.Fray who scored five not out, put on 58 for the ninth wicket.
Hurdle was the dominant partner, slamming 10 sixes and two fours during his stay to lead Police to a respectable total. Also among the runs were Michael Donawa with 34, Ferdinand Thorne (19), Andrew Rollins (13) and Dennis Archer 10.
Kenny Maybury was the pick of the Somerset bowlers with three for 37 off seven overs while S.Hollis had two for seven off two overs and Jacobi Robinson two for 43 off eight overs.
Somerset fought back bravely with opener Curtis Jackson stroking 54, Wendell White 48 and Reid Jones 21, but the west enders fell short in the second last over when Hollis was run out with the team still 19 short of victory.
Archer led the Police attack with three for 24 off seven overs, while Thorne had two for 35 off seven overs.

At Sea Breeze Oval, Warwick and Flatts played out a nailbiter with the latter eventually securing victory by four wickets with just ten balls remaining.
Rahji Edness led Flatts in their run chase by stroking 54 while opener Quinn Outerbridge hit 48, Rodney Woolridge 44 not out, Hewonne Baker 22 not out and Nakia Smith 17.
Robby Richardson was the best bowler for Warwick with two for 23 off five overs.
Veteran player-coach Allan Douglas helped Warwick to their challenging total with a superb 70, which included five fours and three sixes. Dione Dookie followed with 32, Lamar Caines 24 not out and opener Daniel Caines 11.
Nakia Smith was the top bowler for Flatts with three for 44 off 10 overs while Troy Dean returned two for 21 off 10 overs.

Bailey's Bay 60-1
Bailey's Bay made short work of Cleveland, winning by nine wickets and ending the game by 3.15 p.m. at Wellington Oval.
Anthony Braithwaite and skipper Corey Hill skittled the Cleveland batsmen, Braithwaite taking four for 22 off 10 overs and Hill returning four for 30 off 10 overs.
Carlton Smith was the lone batsman in double figures with 11.
Thanks to an aggressive 38 not out by opener Dennis Trott (five fours and two sixes) Bay reached victory off just 6.5 overs.
