?I want them to feel the fear?

A remarkably calm Gus Logie paid tribute to his side?s ? fantastic fighting qualities? last night after their thrillingly narrow win.

The national coach admitted that Bermuda got off to extremely shaky starts when both batting and bowling, but praised their ability and desire to fight back against an extremely experienced England side who fought to the death.

?We didn?t start well in either innings and it took some fantastic performances from one or two individuals to dig us out of a hole and get us back on track,? he said.

?When we batted, we lost three early wickets and after ten overs we were miles behind where we wanted to be and it took a lot of character from the likes of the skipper Irving Romaine and Lionel Cann to come out and play the way they did.

?Irving in particular played fantastically well under pressure and he upped the tempo just when we needed it by going into fourth or fifth gear and playing some terrific shots.

?Bowling wise as well we struggled to begin with. Kevin Hurdle had a few problems with his run up in the first over and it was quite slippery out there as well, so we gave England a very good start.

?But to Hurdle?s credit he came back on from the other end and bowled very well, and the role of the two spinners (Hasan Durham and Dwayne Leverock) in the middle phase of the innings was crucial. Now it was not ideal for somebody like Lionel to be bowling the final over of the innings like that and I would have preferred it if two of our main bowlers had bowled the final two overs ? though I?m pleased it worked out in the end.

?But overall it was a great game of cricket and it is so good for the collective morale of the players and the country that the team gets to play in a big tournament at home.

?These are the experiences that the players need more of in my opinion. Playing in front of a large crowd in tense situations and having to perform.

?I want them to feel the pressure, I want them to feel the fear ? only then can we get stronger and stronger as a team. These are the situations I would like them to come up against as often as possible because they will learn a lot from them.?
