Island pair embark on European tennis tour
Young tennis stars Caitlin Gordon and David Thomas are heading on a European tour this week
The 15 and 17-year-olds will compete in three ITF tournaments in Denmark, Germany and Scotland.
The goal for both players is to gain experience in international competition and secure points towards a world ranking.
Both Gordon and Thomas have already sampled overseas competition in other ITF tournaments in St Lucia, Barbados and Guadaloupe in 2005 as well as representing Bermuda in both Junior Fed Cup and Davis Cup.
The European Tour was made possible with sponsorship from Cuarenta Bucaneros Ltd, Emerald Financial, Coleridge Place (through a fundraising effort for junior tennis players) and another sponsor who wishes to remain anonymous. They compete first in the Danish Cup in the historic town of Aarhus this week, where both players have been accepted into the main draw based on their existing rankings.
