Island team in the frame
Bermuda's snooker team was last night well placed to finish in the top three of the team event at the International Snooker League's 29th Annual Tournament being held at the Old Colony Club, writes Gayle Alleyne.
In fact, the hosts were leading on 53 points but Scotland and England on 50 and 46 points respectively - and with a game in hand - were poised to overtake Bermuda who had concluded their rounds.
"Bermuda has been outstanding all the way through. In fact there is a Bermuda team and an Old Colony Club team which will finish not too far behind Bermuda. These two teams will certainly finish in the top three or four," said President of the Bermuda Snooker Association Stewart Greenslade yesterday.
Ken Shea of Halifax won the A Division with 20 points while Chance McLean of Bermuda, who is representing Nova Scotia, won the B Division with 24 points followed by Greenslade - playing for Old Colony - on 20 points and Bermuda's Tyler Moniz on 19 points.
Scotsman Derek Smith won the C Division with 25 points and Steve Pavlick of Halifax was the runner-up on 20 points.
"It's a team event and the scores of players in the three sections are combined to make up the team's overall points," explained Greenslade.
