James clubs his way to eighth
Big hitting golfer Tim James finished a creditable eighth when he travelled to the second regional qualifier of the Re/Max World Long Drive Championships in Turks and Caicos last weekend.
James competed along with fellow Bermuda player Andrew Bissell after the pair had finished one and two respectively in the Cable and Wireless sponsored local qualifier at St. George's Golf Course a week earlier.
In the Caribbean contest, Bissell failed to advance past the preliminaries while James was one of eight contestants who moved through to the final round.
However, his best drive of 310 yards fell well short of eventual winner, Juan Carlos Berastegui of Caracas, Venezuela, who blistered his furthest tee shot 366 yards.
Berastegui will now represent the Caribbean and Latin America district in the Re/Max World finals to be held this weekend in Mesquite, Nevada, some 40 miles north-east of Las Vegas.
In Bermuda, James crushed a drive of 330 yards while Bissell's best was 327 yards.
