Bermuda's Xavier James failed to get past the first round of the Pan Am Games 200 metres at the Olympic Stadium in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic this morning.

James, who was eliminated from the 100m earlier in the week, was the last in his heat to cross the line, finishing in a time of 21.65. Andres Gallegos of Ecuador failed to finish.

Kenny Brokenburr of the USA, who was in James' race, finished fastest out of the four heats in 20.66.

Bermuda's 1,500m runner Ashley Couper competes this evening in a straight final.
