John Johnston, the dark horse of the Argus Open tennis tournament, pulled off his second upset of the week yesterday when he defeated 17-year-old Jevon Whitter in a thrilling three-set match at the Tennis Stadium.
Johnston prevailed 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 to move into the final of the Men's A division where he will take on top seed Sammy Maybury in tomorrow's final.
Maybury advanced with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Eldon Daniels.
In another tough three-setter, Brent Smith and Giovanni Burgess upset the favoured veteran pair of John Moore and Martin Zolnai 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
