Katura at her best in university meet

Bermudian diver Katura Horton-Perinchief starred last weekend as George Washington University?s women?s swimming and diving team defeated rivals from La Salle University.

In their first home meet of the season last Saturday, the Colonials beat the visitors 130.50 to 110.50 points. However, their male counterparts lost to La Salle 159.50 to 81.50.

Horton-Perinchief, who enrolled at George Washington after the Athens Olympics, led in the diving department, winning both the one-metre and three-metre springboard events.

She topped the one-metre dive by 45.68 points, totalling 253.73, and posted 298.43 in the three-metre dive, winning by 84.15.

In the three-metres, she also qualified for the Zone A Championships which is a pre-qualification meet for next year?s NCAA championships.

?I dove well in the three-metre event. It was one of the best meets of my life. It?s a totally different feeling to compete here after having competed at the Olympics. There is absolutely no pressure. It felt great,? Horton-Perinchief told .

The Colonials? women swimmers excelled as well, recording six individual and two relay victories en route to overcoming La Salle.
