Khano facing late fitness test
Khano Smith remains questionable for the New England Revolution's assault on the MLS Cup tomorrow against the LA Galaxy.
The former Dandy Town striker, who scored the goal that kept the Revs in post-season contention, is still struggling with deep bruising under his left kneecap.
Although Smith flew down with his team-mates to Frisco in Texas for tomorrow's final, he is still only rated a 50-50 chance with coach Steve Nicol not expected to name his squad until the morning of the game.
Smith was stretchered off against the New York/New Jersey MetroStars after scoring the winning goal in the Eastern Conference semi-finals two weeks' ago and hasn't trained since.
Shaun Goater, meanwhile, also has a big game this weekend as he will start for top-of-the-league Southend in their clash with second-placed Swansea in a sell-out at Roots Hall.
The game has been attracting massive media interest for a League One encounter with former Man City star Goater at the centre of attention.
