Kiera's record double
Kiera Aitken smashed two records to steal the thunder at the Bermuda national swimming championships held at BASA pool over the weekend.
Aitken's records were the only two Bermuda national marks to fall during the meet as she clocked one minute, 8.11 seconds in the 100 metres open backstroke and then finished in 2:14.16 for another best in the 200m freestyle. Her backstroke time was also good enough to qualify her for this year's World Games.
Meanwhile, Darren Woods set a new age group record with his time of 28.21 seconds in the 13-14 50 metres butterfly and Paige Kearns of visiting Brevard Swimming Association in Florida carved an amazing 10 seconds of the all-comers record she set last year in the 200m Individual Medley, clocking 2:30.75.
Some eight swimmers from Brevard, one from the University of Florida and another from Dalhousie University in Halifax also competed in the meet.
