Kilgore and Jones to clash in final

Former winner Cy Kilgore of the US will do battle over 36 holes with local resident Arthur Jones at Mid Ocean Club today to decide the Men?s Amateur Match Play Golf Championships.

Kilgore squeezed through two tough matches yesterday to earn his spot in the final, beating local Gary Carr one-up in the morning?s quarter-final, and then edging fellow American David Hayes by the same score in the afternoon?s semi-final.

Jones? route to the final was slightly easier as he got by another local, David Allison, four and three in the morning before ousting Jack Lander two-up in the afternoon.

Jones and Kilgore will step up to the first tee at 7.30 this morning for their 36-hole showdown.

Following behind will ladies? finalists, medallist and favourite Ebonie Burgess and Susie Elton.

In yesterday?s women?s semi-finals, Burgess eased past Molly McNichols six and four while Elton despatched of Brenda McLean four and three.Yesterday?s full results,
