Kyle stars in Town victory

Though he didn't get on the scoresheet, Kyle Lightbourne played a starring role as Macclesfield Town enjoyed a superb 3-1 win over Leyton Orient last night.

The Third Division side are struggling at the bottom of the basement division, but goals from Danny Whitaker and Matthew Tipton (two) at Moss Rose ensured they moved up to 20th out of 24 teams on 36 points.

The bottom two teams in the division drop into the non-league Conference at the end of the season.

Lightbourne played a large part in the second goal in the 54th minute.

Jumping with the Orient `keeper, Lightbourne forced him to fumble the catch. He then chased down the ball and hit a volley over his shoulder which crashed against the bar.

The rebound fell to Tipton who slammed the ball home after evading a defender.

Lightbourne went close again later on when he forced a save out of the `keeper with a crisp first-time shot.
