Ladies pair on fast forward

It seems like Tessa MacKenzie and Lyn Furtado have taken heed of the sponsors' name in this year's national squash championships.

Last night in the semi-finals of the Fast Forward Freight Bermuda Squash Club Championships, both women dispatched their respective opponents in equally quick time to book a date against each other in the final.

Playing at the Bermuda Squash Racquets Association, both women gave up just six points each as they raced to victory by the same scoreline of 9-2, 9-2, 9-2.

First it was Furtado who was on "fast forward" as she caused somewhat of an upset by whipping second seed Liz Martin. Top seed MacKenzie then polished off Denise Kyme.

The men's semi-finals were due to be played later in the night, featuring number one player Nick Kyme against Tommy Sherratt and second seed Chase Toogood against Nick Wiffen.

The women's final will be played at 7:20 p.m. on Saturday and the men's final will follow. The public are welcome to attend.
