Lightbourn shines at the Lanes

Dean Lightbourn produced the kind of stunning form which he has become renowned for over the years during the fifth round of the American Airlines Bowling Spectacular at Warwick Lanes on Tuesday evening.

Lightbourn led the way in the scratch division en route to claiming the first and third games, compiling scores of 267 and 222 respectively.

However, he did have to share the spoils in the third game with Rickai Binns who also rolled 222.

In all, 90 bowlers took part during Tuesday's round with the recently red-hot Jackie Miller uncharacteristically enduring a quiet night.

Joanne Fubler emerged as a first-time winner in the handicap division, claiming the top prize after rolling games of 285, 214 and 213 for a 712 series.

Her 285 game was the night's top game.

Lightbourn was second with 267 while Clem Lespere's 260 was good enough to secure third place honours.

The remaining prize-winners in the handicap division were Shirley Tuzo (699), Lightbourn (692), Michael Honore (686), Betty Lespere (683), Josie Richardson (674), Quinton Mallory and Aretha Smith (661), David Pratt (655) and Mike McCallum (652).

A total of 55 bowlers have now reached the elite 'fifteeners club", meaning they are almost fully eligible for the finals.
