Lightbourne looking for quick return

Kyle Lightbourne aims to be back in full training soon in a bid to get Macclesfield Town's season back on track.

The Third Division side from Cheshire have seen manager Gil Prescott quit and new boss Dave Moss take over since the start of a term which currently sees them languishing second from bottom of the entire football pyramid.

They travelled to Cheltenham last night for a crucial midweek fixture, but star man Lightbourne left his boots behind. His absence told once again with the Silkmen going down 4-1 and only Halifax's defeat at Hartlepool keeping them from going rock bottom.

The Bermudian striker has figured only once since injuring his ankle in the 2-0 win at Bristol Rovers on October 13. But both he and team-mate Richard Tracey are hoping to be back in action in the near future with the December 1 clash at Torquay tentatively pencilled in.

"We've missed them both," said boss Moss. "Both have that extra bit of pace which we have lacked in recent weeks. We need to get behind defences and these two can do that. We need to build up their fitness again and then see how it goes. They're both very good players."

Lightbourne and Tracey are two of only four players who have scored for Macclesfield all season and have five goals between them.
