Lower division side guaranteed place in semis
At least one First Division side will play in this year?s FA Cup semi-finals after 2005 beaten finalists Hamilton Parish drew Southampton Rangers.
The third lower division side remaining in the competition, Prospect United, face the tough prospect of a visit from in-form North Village, the current cup holders and league champions elect, following yesterday?s cup draw at Captain?s Lounge.
?We got the venue and the team we wanted,? said Prospect coach Earl Basden somewhat surprisingly.
?We?re at home and we are playing North Village. They are the form team on the Island and to win the FA Cup you have to beat the best ? and we appear to have been drawn against the best.?
Ireland Rangers? late season renaissance will face its stiffest test when the already-relegated league whipping boys face Devonshire Cougars at the Den.
?It?s not the tie we wanted,? said coach Dwayne DeRosa, whose side have gone unbeaten in three games.
?But there are a lot of good teams left in this so it was going to be hard whoever we got. But our season is now all about focusing on the FA Cup and making up our for our league campaign and getting booted out of the Friendship.?
PHC take on Dandy Town in the other all-Premier Division tie with all matches to be played across three venues on March 19.
In the ladies quarter-finals, Lady Cougars take on Somerset Hurricanes while PHC play Prospect. Lady Rams and Dandy Stars have a bye into the final four.
