Two months after being accepted into the Bermuda Football Association First Division, the fledgling club encountered difficulties recruiting sufficient numbers to field a team which in turn prompted the decision to withdraw from the league.

Yesterday club vice-president Anthony Lima cited a lack of player commitment as the primary reason for his club's sudden collapse.

"It's definitely off," he confirmed. "We had a lot of players training earlier this summer but leading up to the final weeks before the new season everybody disappeared, leaving us with around six or seven players."

Lima said several top players who transferred to the club wanted to be treated like "kings".

"They wanted us to chase after them and they made some outrageous requests for extra incentives to play," he added.

"We are a new club and our finances are limited. It was crazy. Guys were demanding this and that - and they weren't even training with us yet. They were training with other clubs. So we decided it was best to scrap our plans."

Some of those plans, said Lima, involved working in the community with the emphasis geared towards serving the senior sector.

"We thought we were going to be able to do something positive for soccer and the community at large," he added. "And to be honest I am quite embarrassed because in the end we only had around seven players who were really committed to play."

Among the list of those who were supposed to suit up for Magnum Force this season were former Boulevard captain Leroy Stevens and team-mate Kamal Trott, Stefan Dupres from PHC Zebras and former Dandy Town defender Kirk Butterfield.

The club had recruited former Devonshire Colts' striker and Somerset Eagles coach Albert Dowling to coach the side.
