Medicine and Magic lead home BOCA fleet
and were the big winners on Sunday when Bermuda Offshore Cruising Association (BOCA) sailed their annual Bacardi Cup races.
The event took place on a windward-leeward course in the Great Sound with light, easterly winds. , a Farr 40 skippered by Steve Sherwin, took first place overall in the racing division following a first place in one race and a second in the other.
Somers Cooper drove , a J80, to a strong second place overall, putting in his best performance of year. Third place went to John Thompson?s , which came out on top after fierce competition between the three J105s, which were separated by just seconds.
In the cruising division, John Edmunds? also had her best day so far this year, despite having to manage with a crew of just three people on board.
With one first place and a second, came in ahead of David Roblin?s with Jonathan Baxer?s in third.
Sunday also marked the end of BOCA?s Spring Series, which started in March. placed first in the racing division, followed by , , , and . led the way in the cruising division with second and third.
The East End Mini Yacht Club?s annual flag pole to flag pole comet race will be held this Sunday, starting at 11.30 a.m. from Hamilton Harbour and finishing in St. George?s Harbour.
The event will feature all three comet racing clubs, West End Sailboat Club, Mid Atlantic Boat and Sports Club and East End Mini Yacht Club.
Defending champion Stevie Dickinson, winner of this year?s Race Week comet class, will again be sailing in with crew Ty Trott.
Meanwhile, in the weekend?s West End Sailboat Club?s three-race series for the Marion Johnson trophy, Rudy Bailey and crew and daughter Danielle Bailey, placed first overall with three firsts. Gladwin Lambert followed with two seconds and a a third while Jamie Harvey was third with a second, third and one did not start.
