Whoever said the number 13 brings bad luck?

For ever since budding PHC Zebras midfielder Tre Ming first donned the number shrouded in superstition, nothing but good fortunes have followed.

And, Ming, ten, intends to ride his luck all the way to English Premiership side Manchester United.

?I have liked Manchester United since David Beckham was playing for them,? said Ming, pictured.

?And they also have other good players like Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.

?I love being outside on the football pitch and the feel of a soccer ball on my foot. I like setting up plays during the game and watching them work and playing as a team.?

And it is this very same positive outlook which Ming also applies to his school studies at West Pembroke Primary school where, not only is he a prefect, but also a student who receives top grades.

Apart from pursuing a football career, Ming also hopes to become a journalist upon completion of his academic studies.

And the youngster receives solid backing from proud mom O?Shandah who assists her son?s efforts, and team, in every way, shape or form. In fact, the player?s mother is largely responsible for providing transportation, jerseys, team sheets and beverages week in and week out.

?My Mom is definitely a soccer Mom,? Ming added. ?She?s there to watch every game ? even in the pouring rain and does the ?dance? whenever I score a goal.?

Internationally, Ming lists Beckham as his favourite player, while locally he admires Zebras? Premier Division striker Antwon Russell.

?David (Beckham) is a midfielder like me while Antwon (Russell) is a very good, aggressive player,? he noted.

When asked does he think he has what it takes to make it at the top, Ming replied: ?Definitely, especially if I keep my grades high.?

Since first entering on to the football pitch at age four, Ming has received numerous team and individual awards and only took another four years to break into Zebras? Under 11 youth team where he remains to this present day under the tutelage of former PHC strikers and siblings, Michael and Winston Trott Jr.

Ming added: ?I can?t ever imagine playing for any other local club except PHC. I am there because I like my team mates and all of the coaches.?

Rating a hat-trick scored against Devonshire Cougars earlier this season as perhaps his best game to date, Ming has also enjoyed another highly successful school football season. The West Pembroke school football captain received the honourable distinction of being named Most Valuable Player for both the Primary school final and All-Star match where he captained a West select.

Those on hand at the National Sports Centre for Bermuda?s opening tour match against Santos would have witnessed Ming lay claim to the half-time ball juggling and skills competition where he controlled the ball 44 times.
