No tricks - just the best I can be for Bermuda
Getting a goal on Saturday against Coventry was probably the best preparation for this week's game against Nicaragua.
It is nice to get on the scoresheet, and get a win, before playing for Bermuda again. It is always a confidence boost to score, even it was a bit of a tap-in.
I am a little nervous about the Nicaragua game but I think it's healthy to have a few nerves. I am always nervous before games, whoever I am playing for, and it helps me focus and prepare in the most professional manner.
I am not worried about Nicaragua, I am just nervous about making sure I put in the best possible performance for Bermuda.
I am looking forward to the match as it always means a lot to me to represent my country. It has been four years since I last played for Bermuda and my game has changed a lot.
I have always been a goal-poacher, but when you are younger you do a lot more running and now my positional sense is a lot better and I am a bit wiser about what runs to make and where I need to be to give maximum benefit to the side.
I know what the Bermuda public are like and how they are always wanting to see people take the ball down the wing and take on a couple of players and beat them.
They love to see all the skills and the flicks, but I don't know if I have any tricks left now - that isn't really my game any more.
My aim is to do the best for the team and hopefully get a goal and get the win, that is where my satisfaction comes from.
When I was younger I was always trying the flicks and the moves but if you are striker and you are not getting the goals, it isn't going to keep the manager happy.
Years of having it drilled into me that the result is the most important thing has changed the way I look at the game and the way I play.
Playing against Nicaragua is going to be very good preparation for us as they are going to be the same sort of opponents as El Salvador. They may not be the same standard but they are going to play in a similar way and it should be interesting to see how we play against them.
There are a lot of new faces in our team and I am looking forward to playing with all the new players.
And it will be nice to play here again - the playing surface at the National Stadium is as good as the ones in the Premiership. It is a very fast surface and the ball zips around a lot and comes off the pitch very quickly.
I know that sounds like a cricketer speaking, but it does make a difference to the way we play and the ball does respond differently on different pitches.
But it is very windy down there, so even though the pitch is excellent, if we don't keep it on the deck you won't always see the game played brilliantly there because the ball gets blown around so much.
I have a big game on Saturday for Reading against West Ham but that is not going to affect the way I play here.
The gaffer, Steve Coppell, didn't say anything to me about trying to avoid injury, but that is not really his management style.
A few of us went away on international duty this week and he didn't say anything about needing us when we get back - that is motivation enough and that his way of doing things.
I have been around long enough to know that you can't play to avoid getting injured and still play properly.
I wouldn't go into Wednesday's game thinking Saturday's game is more important, that would not be fair on me, on my team-mates, on the Bermuda public or the BFA.
I am going to go out there tomorrow night and will put in a professional performance and do my best to help Bermuda win - that is all I am thinking about now.
