The Bermudian striker has joined the Third Division club on loan for the rest of the season.

Ironically, after finding himself surplus to requirements at division rivals Macclesfield Town he has moved to a club six places above the Silkmen who have an outside shot at promotion.

And if he proves himself in the six games the Tigers have left this season the short-term deal could turn into a long-term move.

Lightbourne said: "Things haven't worked out for me at Macclesfield and I need a fresh challenge. It's great to have joined such a big club as Hull and hopefully I can still help them get promotion this season.

"I am here until the end of the season but who knows what might happen after that? I know I'm the other side of 30 now but I feel in good shape and there's no reason why I can't carry on for two or three more seasons yet."

Macclesfield's chief executive Colin Garlick sent Lightbourne on his way with his best wishes.

"Hull approached us yesterday (Tuesday) with a view to taking Kyle and we agreed. It's no secret we're ready to listen to offers for him. We'll see how it goes for him over the next few weeks.."
