Onions bring tears to eyes of the Wanderers

MR Onions signalled their desire to be amongst the Commercial league honours as they walked away with a 1-0 win in the final of the Goose Gosling Tournament Trophy against BAA Wanderers.

This was a pre-season tournament put on by BAA as a first step in honouring Gosling's contribution to sport in Bermuda, and in particular BAA.

Andy Robinson scored the goal that separated the two teams. Some stout defending, and excellent goalkeeping kept the game very evenly balanced to the final whistle.

If the final lacked goals, the third place play-off more than made up for it, as Robin Hood saw off Tuff Dogs 4-3.

Brian Fubler, Eldon Rego, Alan Mooney and Jarath McCabe shared in the goals for the Hood.

Manny Faria's team also shared the honours around with Deonte Darrell, Chris Sousa and Gladwyn Smith finding the net.

The trophy was presented to the winners by Fred Pimental, a former BAA youth and senior player under the tutelage of Gosling.
