Onions knock in 17

Incredibly, Commercial A titleholders MR Onions cling on to their trophy for one more week after managing to pile in 17 goals on Saturday.

The heavy win took a big chunk out of leaders Key West?s superior goal average who only tallied the statutory three at the weekend after a no-show from relegated Valley who had just five players.

However Key West still have a three-point advantage as they go into their final game against Robin Hood who beat them last week.

Meanwhile Onions, who face Tuff Dogs in their last game, made the most of their game against a short-handed St. George?s All Stars by thrashing them 17-0.

With All-Stars playing most of the game with only eight men the result was never in doubt. Colin Keane and Kian Wookey scored five goals each with a Wookey free-kick being the pick of the bunch.

Two goals from John Lally and one each for Darragh O?Donoghue, Jon Betts, Matt Savage, Martin Murphy and Rael Coen completed the scoring.

A combination of some excellent saves by the St. George?s goalkeeper, poor finishing and Onions being repeatedly caught offside prevented the score being even higher.

Third-placed Lobster Pot bounced back from two successive defeats with a 5-2 win over Tuff Dogs. Chuck Woods bagged the first two. Charles Morgan banged one in from 18 yards in the second half, Dave Allison netted from close range while Cristain Castaneda completed the rout with a long-range effort in the dying minutes. Carlos Lopes and Chris Sousa were on target for Tuff Dogs.

Dandy Town Roots A are looking precarious after playing out a 0-0 draw with North Village. However the side are still appealing the BFA?s decision to not allow a replay of the game against Key West Rangers which was cancelled after no one could be found to referee the game.

North Village, who are also complaining about the BFA?s decision to revert to three-down, two-up after they had said it would only be two down, are two goals behind PHC on goal difference.

However if PHC decide not to play their remaining game against BAA they, not Roots, will be relegated after just one season in the top flight.

In mid-table action two goals from Alan Mooney and one from Alex McLoughlin helped Robin Hood beat old rivals BAA 3-0 at Southampton Oval.
