Alan Paris is nearing the finish of Leg Three of the Around Alone Race.

Yesterday morning at 9 a.m. local time Paris and BTC Velocity were sailing towards Cape Reinga off New Zealand at eight knots.

In a brief satellite call to race officials, Paris said all was well on board, the conditions were excellent and he had made good speed sailing across the Tasman Sea.

He was 211 miles from Cape Reinga on the northern tip of New Zealand and was expecting to round the cape during the day today.
