Paton, Porter finish in style
Mid Ocean Club?s 34th annual Founders Trophy tournament came to an exciting conclusion yesterday with the pair of Lee Paton and Jim Porter setting the Tucker?s Town course on fire with a blistering net score of 60 (gross 66) in the final round.
That was enough to tie defending champions Chris Wightman and Joe Marengi, who carded a final round of net 64, and send the two teams into a sudden-death play-off.
Paton and Porter then continued where they left off, winning on the first extra hole.
The Paton/Porter pairing also turned in the week?s best 72-hole gross score of 285 but with teams only eligible for one prize, that division was also decided in sudden-death between four teams who finished on 292.
Ricky Cox and Guy Phelan came out on top in superb fashion, carding an eagle three on the par-five second to win the play-off.
Also finishing on 292 were M.Dunkley and R.Ghioto, M.Gosling and J.Murray and N. and M.Warren.
