Pierce hurt as Giants fight back

For the second time in successive games against the Philadelphia Eagles, Bermuda?s NFL star Antonio Pierce was forced to leave the field early with an ankle injury.

Last year it ended his season, robbing him of a chance to help the Giants through the play-offs and yesterday he hobbled off in overtime, missing just one four-down series, and left him watching from the sidelines as his side completed a remarkable comeback to claim an overtime victory over their divisional rivals.

Pierce, in his second season with the Giants after a $33 million move from Washington, recorded eight tackles to take his season tally to 19 as the Giants won 30-24, having been 17 points behind in the third quarter.

The game was decided by a Plaxico Burress touchdown 12 minutes into overtime. Damon Ming, forced to make his first appearance for Hayes reserves after being dropped from the first team, scored his first goals for the club in a 5-0 Suburban League Cup victory over Ruislip Manor.

The Bermudian winger, who is expected to join up with his international team-mates for the Digicel Cup in the US Virgin Islands next week, scored the opener after ten minutes before scoring direct from a free kick on the edge of the box in the 46th minute.

In his first game as skipper, David Hemp?s Glamorgan went down by 109 runs to Lancashire in the Pro40 competition.

In the penultimate game of the year for his county, Hemp, who replaced long-time friend Robert Croft as captain last week, scored 16 runs in 22 balls helping his side chase 256 but they were bowled out for 147 with more than eight overs to spare.
