Pierce waiting for Chargers

Antonio Pierce and the New York Giants head down to San Diego tomorrow night for the late televised game against the Chargers determined to improve on their 2-0 record.

The Giants, who the Bermudian middle linebacker joined as a $33m free agent this summer, have beaten the spread in their opening games ? including the controversial ?home? game against the New Orleans Saints ? and are underdogs for this match-up.

Second year quarterback Eli Manning will be under pressure against the team he shunned after being drafted at number one while Pierce will have his hands full with Pro Bowler LaDainian Tomlinson.

Although the Giants are second in the NFL against the rush ? allowing only 103 yards in two games ? they are going to be busy stopping Tomlinson, and they know it.

?It doesn?t matter what he?s done, you know what he?s capable of doing,? Pierce told the New York Daily News. ?He?s a game-breaker at any time.?

Pierce currently leads the NFC and is fourth in the league with 20 tackles in his opening games, 16 solo. He has also knocked down two passes and shared a sack with ?future Hall of Famer? Michael Strahan.
