Quinn loses out despite good run
Bermuda's Jasmine Quinn continued to impress at the ITF 14 and Under Caribbean Development Championships in St. Vincent this week.
In addition to advancing to the semifinals of the main draw by beating Sara Ann John of St. Vincent 6-0, 6-1, she teamed up with Kayla Cross to reach the doubles semifinals of the main draw also after the pair punished Dominica's Jasmine Joseph and Sheniece Rawlins of St. Kitts 6-1, 6-0.
But in yesterday's singles final of the main draw Quinn was no match for Trinidad's Shenelle Mohammad, losing 6-0, 6-2.
The main-draw doubles semifinals followed in which Quinn and Cross played with a lot of spirit before being beaten 6-4, 7-5 by Trinidad sisters Shenelle and Carlista Mohammad.
In the first round of the consolation competition, Cross crushed Joseph 6-1, 6-0 and is now in the finals.
In the boys' consolation first round, Johnny Holland of Bermuda defeated Dean Fonseca of British Virgin Islands 6-0, 6-1 but then went down to St. Vincent's Derron Liverpool 6-3, 6-2.
Holland also had tough luck in a doubles encounter, teaming up with Shane Huggins of St. Vincent. The pair lost 7-5, 6-3 to Duainne Miller and Ezra Sue Ho of Guyana.
