Records galore!

Saleem Mukkudem and David Hemp walk off the L.C. De Villiers Oval in Pretoria on Thursday.

Bermuda amassed the highest team score and David Hemp the highest individual score since the inception of the Intercontinental Cup in 2004 as Gus Logie's men forfeited any remote chance of outright victory at the L.C.DeVilliers Oval in Pretoria today.

When Bermuda were finally bowled out after 196 overs, their total stood on 620, eclipsing by 32 runs the competition's previous top score of 588, ironically compiled by Canada against Bermuda last summer.

Glamorgan skipper Hemp, in only his second four-day match for Bermuda, finished unbeaten on 247, smashing the record of 220 set by Kenya's Steve Tikolo against Bermuda in Namibia.

Hemp's marathon effort, including 30 fours and two sixes, lasted 525 minutes and saw him face 373 balls.

By tea Holland had been reduced to 37 for one in their second innings, Tom DeGrooth snapped up by Irving Romaine at second slip off the bowling of Saleem Mukuddem for four.

But with just one session remaining and no chance of a result, it seemed likely the skippers would agree on an early finish.

While Hemp proceeded to shred the record books, he received plenty of help from Bermuda's tailend bats who also set a number of new marks.

Dwayne Leverock's half-century (51) represented his highest first class score while last man Kevin Hurdle (29) also enjoyed a career-best.

Earlier Mukuddem had fallen in the fourth over just 10 runs short of what would have been his maiden first class century, although still his top score at this level.

After a competition record seventh-wicket partnership of 219 with Hemp, Mukuddem was caught behind by Jeroen Smits off Daan van Bunge for 90, although he clearly felt he hadn't touched the ball.

The eighth-wicket partnership between Hemp and Leverock, worth 132, was also a new Bermuda record as was the last wicket stand of 50 between Hemp and Hurdle.
