`Reel' good time for Fox and Rego

Anglers Danny Fox and Bobby Rego are having a `reel' good time competing in the fourth annual Rolex/International Game Fish Association Offshore Championship Tournament currently underway in Los Cabos, Baja, Mexico.

The Bermudian pair currently top the leaderboard with 2,522 points after day two of the four day tournament.

On Tuesday, reigning Bermuda International Light Tackle champions Fox and Rego, successfully landed and released seven striped marlin for 300 points in addition to two dorado and a sole wahoo.

"We had an excellent captain and a crew that were great at spotting fish," commented Fox, reflecting upon a fine day's effort.

The veteran angler attributed the duo's success to using fresh, live bait. "That was probably the biggest factor," he added.

Trailing the local pair is a team from the Cayman Islands with 1,584 points and they are closely shadowed by the Mexicans who are only a slim two points adrift on 1,582 points.

In all, 42 teams from around the globe are competing in this year's championship and at the halfway mark there have been 98 striped marlin and a single sailfish caught and released.

The team with the most points at the end of the four days of competition will receive Rolex timepieces and a trophy.
