Robinson defends title

Laura Robinson will be looking to defend her title when Bermuda's junior golfers take part in the Canadian Junior National Championships which start today.

A total of nine local players have made the trip to the Royal Woodbine Golf and Country Club in Ontario.

Along with Robinson there will also be fellow girls Stephanie Lewis and Ebony Burgess and boys Fraser Hunt, Nick Dunkle, David Boyce, Thomas Edwards, Andrew Boyce and Andrew Osborne.

Hunt reached the final last year.

Play starts today with a 36-hole medal play qualifier and then match play will begin on Wednesday and continue through Thursday and Friday.

Chaperone Eric Robinson said: "Competition is tough, so first of all if they qualify after the 36 holes that will be an achievement for all of them.

"There are 140 players in the tournament so if they qualify they will be doing well. They may then have to play 36 holes each day in match play. So it's going to be a tough five days."
