Shooting up the table's a bit of a surprise for some

If you'd asked me at the beginning of the season whether we were good enough for a play-off spot, I would have said yes.

If you'd asked the rest of the team, I'm not so sure.

We had another great win at the weekend and we are now up to sixth in the table which is probably a lot higher than some people's expectations.

For the players, some of the guys wouldn't have thought we would be doing this well.

When a team gets promoted, there is always some self-doubt ? particularly from the guys who have never played at the higher level before ? about how the team is going to cope.

But a few confidence-boosting wins has done the team the power of the good.

We are playing with a new belief now and it was a great result against Swindon and things just look to be going our way at the moment.

But the real test will come during the bad spell that will inevitably come in the season. If we go through a run of games and drop a few points, that is when we will really find out if we are good enough.

At this level of football, it is all about finding consistency and if do have a couple of poor results then it will be about how quickly we can get back to doing the winnings things we are doing now and playing consistently well enough to get back up the table.

Saturday's win was a great result. It was basically all about hard work by the lads and we came through it well.

We took a goal lead, kept playing well and then took another. It was at 2-0 we got a bit sloppy but we managed to keep things together and held on for the win.

We've got Tranmere coming up this weekend and we just have to stick to our gameplan and try and grind out another result.

I watched Damon Ming for the reserves last week and I thought he did pretty well.

With Damon, I have always said that he is a better player when he plays with better players around him. Because of the style of game he has, in the lower leagues he might struggle with the 'let's see who can kick each other the hardest' attitude.

But he got a trial here and he has done well.

I thought he did well in last week's game and I have been impressed with what I have seen of him in training here.

I've always thought Damon was a good enough player to make it somewhere from days playing with him for the Bermuda national team and he has done himself no harm at all in his time here.

I haven't spoken to the gaffer about him yet but he has worked hard in training and made a favourable impression.

But football is a game of opinions and there has been another winger the gaffer has been chasing for a while and we got him in this week on loan.

I don't know much about Jamal Campbell-Ryce but I watched him in yesterday's reserve game and he looked to do pretty well. He is a sort of Ronaldo character, he runs at defenders, does a few step-overs and bangs over the crosses.

He looks pretty skilful and I know he is the one the gaffer has been chasing. I don't know what that is going to mean for Damon because the two play in similar positions but you just don't know in football.

Like I said, I think Damon is good enough to do something at this level ? but maybe I'm just biased.
