Inspired by the clinical finishing of striker Rai Simons, West Pembroke romped to victory over Harrington Sound to regain the Under-11 Primary School Boys League Cup at the Victor Scott School grounds on Wednesday.

Simons got West Pembroke?s cup bid off to a flyer when he netted twice superbly inside the opening ten minutes of the match.

But despite the early setback, Harrington Sound regrouped and came awfully close to erasing the deficit with Calon Minors hitting the woodwork twice.

Simons, however, completed his hat-trick and put the match beyond Harrington Sound?s reach late in the second half as West Pembroke celebrated their sixth League Cup title in seven years.

?Despite going down 3-0, I thought Harrington Sound put up a spirited performance,? commented Bermuda School Sports Federation (BSSF) administrator Manny Faria afterwards.

Simons will now spearhead the West?s bid to retain their title in the BSSF Boys All Star match tonight at the National Sports Centre.

Tonight?s event, sponsored by the HWP Group, kicks off with the Senior School Girls All Star match at 4 p.m. followed by the Primary School Boys All Star match at 5.30 p.m.

Middle School Boys football then takes centre stage at 7 p.m. followed by the premier event, the Senior School Boys All Star match which commences at 8.30 p.m.

Last year saw the East walk away with three of the four titles which will again be up for grabs tonight at the NSC.

And there will be an added incentive for the Island?s budding footballers to be on their very best form as overseas coaches Doug Allison (Furman University), Bret Boulware (Presbyterian College) and Dan Gaspar (University of Hartford) will be in attendance during tonight?s matches to scout future talent.

BSSF All Star Weekend then continues tomorrow at the Bermuda College Gymnasium with the staging of the Girls Netball All Star matches, beginning with the Primary Schools All Star match. Tip-off time is 1 p.m.
