Sims and Shamrock provide harness upset
Aaron Sims driving Real Shamrock produced the upset of the night when they won both heats of the Junior Free for All "C" Division when harness racing resumed at Vesey Street at the weekend.
Settling for second place was the highly regarded Kickapoo Brave, while Grand Magic was third.
Catrina Adcock added to the success of the Sims/Adcock stable when she drove Tuxedo's Prince to a close win over Indian Creek Aries in the 1:09/2 to 1:11/2 time bar.
Aries, driven by Joe Viera, won the opening heat in 1:08/4 and she will now be racing in the Junior Free for All.
Another upset saw Ponder Babe driven by Michael Roberts beat out Tuxedo's Bowtie in the 1:08 and faster "A" Division.
However, Eddie Roque and Bowtie won the second heat in the night's fastest time of 1:06/3.
Shamrock Formal Attire (Chris Roque) and GV Colonel Spence ( Nick DeCosta) had one win each in the "B" Division. DeCosta also drove the veteran Grand Shady to two wins, however, Pocket Change dropped two more races to Eddie Roque's Bowtie's Pocket Watch.
The only other double winner this week was Abbe's M&M driven by Arthur Hurst.
Other notable winners were Shamrock Julie with young EJ Carreiro in the sulky.
Custom Eyes'd picked up her second win under the guidance of Andrea Westerfield. She covered the half mile in 1:07/3 and has one leg out of the Junior Free for All.
Killer's Legacy, with Joe Viera, also won his second race in two weeks going in 1:07 and he is now in the Free for All.
Next race day is Boxing Day. Post time in 12 noon and the highlight will be the 2, 3 & 4 year old stakes races.
