Sims misses out in Kansas
Michael Sims bid for a sixth Buy.Com berth was stalled again on Monday when he failed to qualify for this week's Wichita Open.
His two-over-par 74 at Quail Ridge Golf Course in Winfield, Kansas, left him without any hope of qualifying for the tournament which begins tomorrow at Crestview Country Club in Wichita, Kansas.
"I didn't hit the ball very well. Unfortunately it was not a good day. I made four birdies on the back nine but there were just too many mistakes in between but I'm working on them for next week. I'll spend this week trying to figure a few things out," said the pro rookie yesterday.
Though still feeling the remnants of a recent bout of flu, the 23-year-old Bermudian was quick not to use that as an excuse.
"The week before (when the flu had just started) my swing felt fine when I was hitting a golf ball but yesterday I just didn't feel comfortable on any shot."
Sims' next assignment is another Buy.Com qualifer on Monday for the Permian Basin Open in Texas.
