Sims on track at Q school

Michael Sims

Trying to get his golf back on track after disappointing results in his last few tournaments, Bermudian Michael Sims is in a six-way tie for eighth place after two rounds of the annual PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament (Q-School).

Playing at Cypresswood Country Club in Houston, Texas, the 23-year-old shot 73 on Tuesday and 69 yesterday to be at two-under 142 at the half-way stage of the competition.

American Kevin Muncrief leads the tournament on nine-under 135.

Sims, who is in his first year as a pro golfer, will advance to the second phase of Q-School if he finishes among the low 20 scores and ties.

Hundreds of professionals from around the world are playing in a series of Q-School events this month to determine who will be eligible for the US PGA Tour and the lesser Buy.Com Tour next year.
